Custom Error Pages
Get familiar with website error pages. Discover when they appear and why you should create your own custom error pages.
Whenever a page on your site does not load, an error message shall be displayed to the website visitor. Because there are different errors, there are different pages which will display, but what is standard for all of them is that they are generic and almost certainly will have practically nothing that resembles the design of your website, which could be irritating for any visitor. This is the reason why hosting service providers have introduced a function referred to as Custom Error Pages. For a variety of different errors, website visitors shall see your customized content, which can be informative or witty, based on your choice, and that will match the design and style of your website, so the pages will not seem like they are not part of your Internet site at all. You could use this option for numerous errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).

Custom Error Pages in Shared Hosting
When you order a
shared hosting plan from us, you will be able to set custom made error pages for your sites quickly and easily, because this feature is part of all of our packages. Once you have created the files and uploaded them to your website hosting account, you can check out the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and click on the Edit button for the selected domain or subdomain. Inside the pop-up that will show up, you'll see drop-down options menus for all 4 sorts of errors and for each of them you could select an Apache default page, a generic page from our system or a personalized page. In case you select the third option, you should just input the URL to the file you have uploaded and save the change. A different way to set custom error pages is to create an .htaccess file in the domain or subdomain folder and to include a couple of lines of code in it. If you don't have previous experience or if you're simply uncertain how to do that, you could simply copy and paste the code from our Knowledge Base article on that topic.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
All of the
semi-dedicated hosting plans that we provide support customized error pages and it will not take more than several clicks in your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel to use this functionality. The option is included in the Hosted Domains section of your CP where you'll need to type in the links to the custom-made files through simple drop-down menus and an easy to use interface. Keep in mind, you should upload them inside your account before that. If you don't want to employ this function at some point, you could deactivate it just as quickly and pick an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be shown when your visitors encounter an error. If you prefer, you could also use an .htaccess file to permit the personalized error pages. The file has to contain a specific line of code as well as a link for each error type and you may find an example of the entire content for all four error types in our Help section.
