Started in 2001, the .NAME universal extension is the only one meant for personal websites only. These domain names can include personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other designations people are famous by. At first, only 3rd-level registrations were allowed, so if you planned to purchase john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already registered 3rd-level names remained functional.

Through our company, you can reserve your .NAME domain for a period between 1 and 10 years. You will be able to modify the WHOIS info, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already purchased domain to our company if you get its EPP transfer key from the current registrar and we will renew it once the transfer has been finalized. There are no special stipulations on who can get a .NAME domain, but in order to maintain the idea behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain, the registration could be challenged.
